ICE Deploys Military-Style Operation in California to Arrest Single Anti-Immigration Suspect

Published: May 4, 2025 | Pasadena, CA

In a striking show of force typically reserved for combat zones, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in coordination with the U.S. Secret Service, carried out a large-scale operation in Irvine, California to apprehend a single individual accused of distributing flyers with personal information of federal agents.

The suspect’s alleged offense? Posting flyers across Southern California that listed names, photographs, and phone numbers of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents—flyers that included Spanish-language warnings like “CAREFUL WITH THESE FACES.”

Witnesses described the scene as a “military-style brigade,” with seventeen armored vehicles deployed to serve a criminal warrant. The entire operation was captured via drone footage and shared by ICE with select media outlets, showing an imposing procession through the streets of Pasadena.

ICE and Secret Service armored military brigade patrolling a Pasadena neighborhood in pursuit of a suspect believed to be sharing fliers posting names, numbers, and information about ICE across southern California.

The individual, whose identity has not been made public, is being charged under 18 U.S.C. § 119, which criminalizes the release of law enforcement personnel’s private information with intent to threaten or intimidate. Legal experts are skeptical of the government’s ability to prove intent, suggesting the arrest may be more symbolic than substantive.

“This is textbook intimidation,” said one civil liberties advocate. “A seventeen-vehicle convoy for one unarmed person is not law enforcement—it’s a message.”

This action comes amid a sharp increase in ICE activity under President Trump’s second term. In just the first 100 days, ICE has reported over 66,000 arrests, while grassroots anti-ICE groups have stepped up efforts to protect immigrant communities—patrolling neighborhoods, alerting residents, and distributing materials to expose federal operations.

The FBI and ICE say the investigation is ongoing and have yet to release further information regarding the suspect or possible accomplices.

Observers, activists, and legal analysts across the country are watching closely, raising concerns about whether ICE is becoming a prototype for a fully militarized domestic enforcement agency—and what that means for freedom of speech and dissent.

I hate to say this... And I hope like hell I am wrong... But I think marshall law is coming. This was a test run to see how the general public reacted. How much traction did it get with legacy media? Did the people of Irvine California protest in the streets? Etc. The fact this doesn’t outrage more people is mind blowing to me.
